Who are we?
Geri Ulrey conceived of Dear Mr. President, over a year ago as a means to more deeply engage young people in the political process. She was particularly inspired by the students that she teaches. Geri Ulrey believes that there is great importance in hearing ourselves speak. She hopes that EVERYONE who enters the video house or visits this website will be moved to speak out in their own way, and share personal stories, feelings, and thoughts about their lives.
Geri Ulrey is a filmmaker and educator who teaches film and television production and editing at California State University, Northridge. Her two awarding winning short films, “Pink no.22” and “The Break”, have played extensively on the festival circuit. She earned her MFA in film directing at the UCLA school of Film and Television.
As project producer and director, Geri Ulrey pulled together an amazing team to fully realize her vision of Dear Mr. President. She has been working closely with many individuals of the California State University, Northridge community including the Public Art Club, Art Department students and faculty, Film and Television Engineering, and of course her own students in the department of Cinema and Television Arts.
Geri Ulrey would like to thank everyone who has helped make this project come alive! This project has been an ambitious enterprise that could not have been realized without the participation and collaboration of many talented artists and filmmakers.
